Timber frame changes the shape of a build programme. While the groundworks are going in, your frame is being fabricated in a controlled environment to millimetre tolerances. It arrives ready to erect, and the building goes weathertight in a fraction of the time a masonry shell takes.
That matters for more than speed. A shorter time on site means less exposure to British weather, less disruption where you live or trade, and a structure that was cut dry and stayed dry.
Warmer buildings, lower bills
A timber frame wall achieves a better U-value than masonry at the same thickness, because the insulation sits within the structural depth rather than fighting it. In practice that means more usable floor area for the same footprint, and a building that costs meaningfully less to heat over its life.
It is also the lower-carbon choice by a wide margin. Timber is the only mainstream structural material that stores carbon rather than emitting it during manufacture.

Why choose timber frame over traditional brick and block?
Timber frame goes up considerably faster because the frame is fabricated off site while groundworks happen in parallel, and it is far less weather-dependent. It also insulates better for a given wall thickness, so you get lower running costs and a warmer building, with a much smaller carbon footprint than masonry.
How long does a timber frame build take?
Roof works can begin from day one as the timber frame goes up. The structure can typically be weathertight within one to two weeks, helping complete the overall build several weeks faster than masonry.
Do you build cabins, lodges and garden rooms?
Yes. Bespoke cabins, lodges and garden buildings are a large part of what we do, from simple insulated garden offices to fully serviced holiday lodges with kitchens and bathrooms. Many fall under permitted development, though the rules on size, height and use are specific, so we will check yours.
How long does a timber frame building last?
A properly designed, detailed and maintained timber frame building has a design life equal to masonry. The oldest timber framed buildings in Kent have stood for centuries. Longevity comes down to keeping the frame dry, which is a detailing and workmanship question, not a material one.
